GETTING STARTED

What is Talk To Bible?

New here? Start with this: what it is and what it contains.

Talk To Bible is a Bible companion that runs in any modern browser from a single file. It needs no internet connection, no server, no account and no subscription. Everything you write and save stays in your own browser, on your own device.

It has six sections, all inside one calm, simple screen. Each section is named exactly as you see it in the app.

What you get

◆

Talk to Bible

Tell it how you feel, by typing or by voice. It finds Bible verses that speak to it and adds a short written reflection.

✦

Read the Bible

Read chapter by chapter, search the text, and bookmark, highlight or favorite the verses that matter to you.

✓

Pray with Bible

Morning and evening prayers, a personal prayer writer, prayer requests, a journal and a record of answered prayers.

+

Create Greeting Cards

Make beautiful Bible greeting cards in three quick steps and download each one as an image.

◆

Learn with Bible

Today's devotional, Bible stories, reading plans and your favorite verses, at your own pace.

✦

Journey with Bible

Your home screen: verse of the day, your five-minute Today's routine, weekly goals and your activity.

Good to know: the daily habit shown on the sales page as your "daily Bible boost" appears inside the app as Today's routine. It is the same thing: four small steps you can finish in about five minutes.
GETTING STARTED

Before you start

You need very little. Check this list before you open it.

A phone, tablet or computer

Any device with a modern browser. The layout adapts to the size of your screen.

A web browser

Chrome, Edge, Firefox, Brave or Safari. For the Talk voice mode, Chrome or Edge is the best choice.

No internet needed

After you have the file, reading, praying, journaling and making cards all work offline.

No account or server

No sign-up, no login and no monthly fees. Nothing you write is uploaded anywhere.

A normal browser window

Do not use a private or incognito window. Your data is saved inside the browser and would be lost.

A safe backup folder

A folder outside the browser, such as Documents, for your weekly backup file.

About five minutes a day

Today's routine takes about five minutes. You can read for three minutes or thirty.

Remember: each browser keeps its own data. If you open Talk To Bible in another browser or on another device, it will start fresh. Move your journal with a backup file (see Backup).
GETTING STARTED

Open it in three steps

Opening the file is the setup. There is nothing to install and nothing to sign up for.

StepActionWhat happens
1Save the fileSave the Talk To Bible file you received into a folder you will remember, such as Documents or Downloads.
2Open itDouble-click the file, or choose to open it with your browser. On a phone or tablet, tap the file and open it in your browser.
3Enter your nameOn the welcome screen type your first name and press Begin. You can also press Skip for now.

Your name is saved only in your browser. Talk To Bible uses it in greetings, prayers and devotionals. You can change it later in Settings, under About you.

Tip: always open Talk To Bible in the same browser, and bookmark it, so your journal, bookmarks and prayers are always there waiting for you.

Journey with Bible: your home screen

This is where you land each day. Everything you need is on one screen.

The top of the page greets you by name and shows the date and how many of today's steps are left.

What is on the screen

  • Verse of the day. A new verse each day. Press Open today's devotional to read the reflection, or Surprise me to pick a verse and open it in the card studio.
  • Today's routine. Four steps with a progress ring. See the table below.
  • This week. A strip for Monday to Sunday and three goal rings: prayers, chapters and journal entries. Press Edit goals to change them.
  • Pick up where you left off. Resume returns you to your last chapter, a button opens your next reading-plan day, and an Ask the Bible box starts a conversation.
  • Your activity. A chart of your prayers, devotionals read and journal entries. Choose 7 days or 14 days, or switch to Table view.
  • Saved verses. A donut chart of your bookmarks, favorites and highlights.
  • Prayer requests and this morning's or this evening's prayer.

Your weekly goals start at 5 prayers, 3 chapters and 2 journal entries. You can set each between 1 and 50. They count Monday to Sunday and are private to your device. Your streak counts the days in a row on which you did at least one of the steps.

USING IT

Talk to Bible: find verses for how you feel

Tell it what is on your heart. It searches the Bible text stored on your device and answers with Scripture.

Start a conversation

  1. Open Talk to Bible and make sure the Bible Chat mode is selected.
  2. Type what is on your heart, such as "I feel afraid", or tap a topic from the Topics list.
  3. Read the verses and the short reflection written for Talk To Bible. Ask a follow-up if you like.
  4. Save, copy or turn any verse into a card using the small buttons under it.

You can also ask for a reference, such as John 3:16, or ask to pray together. While it searches, you will see "Searching Scripture".

Tap any of these to begin right away:

Keep what you find

  • Verses so far collects the verses from this conversation so you can bookmark, favorite or copy them.
  • New conversation clears the current chat. Your bookmarks, journal and prayers are not affected.
  • Copy chat copies the whole conversation so you can paste it elsewhere.
  • Your conversation is kept on your device. The latest 300 messages are remembered.

Talk mode: speak instead of typing

  1. Switch to Talk at the top of the screen.
  2. Allow the microphone when your browser asks.
  3. Tap the large button, speak, and tap it again when you finish.
  4. Read the verses on screen, or press the read-aloud button to hear the answer.
About voice: Talk mode uses your browser's own speech recognition. It needs a browser that supports it (Chrome or Edge work best), and in many browsers it needs an internet connection. If it is not available, Bible Chat still works completely offline.
An honest note: Talk To Bible is not a person and not God replying. It matches your words to topics and shows verses and reflections written for the app. It does not write new answers. It is not a substitute for a pastor, a counselor or medical care. If you write about hurting yourself, it shows crisis information and encourages you to reach out to a real person right away.
USING IT

Read the Bible: read, search and save

Three tabs: Read, Search and Saved.

Read

  1. Choose a Book and a Chapter, or press All 66 books.
  2. Use Prev and Next to move through the Bible.
  3. Tap a verse to select it. Choose a highlight color (gold, sky blue, rose or mint), or bookmark, copy or favorite it.
  4. Press Make card to turn a verse into a greeting card, or Ask about this chapter to talk about it.

Opening a chapter counts as reading it for today's routine and your weekly chapter goal. Talk To Bible remembers your place, so Resume on the home screen takes you straight back.

Search

Type a word or phrase to search the Bible text, or type a reference such as John 3:16 or Psalm 23:1-3 and choose Open. Up to 50 matching verses are shown.

Saved

Your Bookmarks, Favorites and Highlights are listed in Bible order. For each verse you can open it in the reader, copy it, or make a card.

The built-in Bible: Talk To Bible includes a public-domain King James text of 1,186 verses from all 66 books, with a number of well-loved chapters in full, such as Psalm 23, Psalm 91, Isaiah 53, John 14, Romans 8 and 1 Corinthians 13. It is a selection, not the whole Bible. To read and search every chapter, load a complete Bible file. See Load a complete Bible.
USING IT

Pray with Bible: pray, plan and remember

Three sections: Pray, Requests and Journal. A badge at the top shows your prayer streak.

Pray

  • Morning and evening prayers. Choose Morning or Evening. Each time of day has four prayers, each with a verse. Press Another prayer to see the next one.
  • Under each prayer: Copy, Save to journal, I prayed this and Make card.

Write a personal prayer

  1. Choose Myself or Someone else, and type their name.
  2. Pick a theme: Peace, Strength, Healing, Guidance & wisdom, Thanksgiving, Forgiveness, Protection, Family & home, Work & provision, Comfort in grief, Hope, or Salvation & faith.
  3. Add your own words if you like, then press Create my prayer.
  4. Copy it, press Save to journal, or press Add to planner.

These prayers are written templates in simple words. Change them however you like.

Requests

  • Weekly prayer rhythm. A gentle theme and verse for each day of the week. Follow it, or ignore it.
  • Add request. Give it a title, who it is for, a theme, how often (daily, weekly or once) and notes.
  • Tick I prayed for this today, press Pray now, Edit or Delete.
  • When God answers, press Answered and write your testimony. The request moves to your answered prayers.

  • Press New entry and add a title, your words (up to 6,000 characters) and an optional mood: Grateful, Peaceful, Hopeful, Anxious, Sad, Weary or Joyful.
  • Search your journal, edit an entry, or delete it.
  • Answered prayers lists everything God has answered, so you can look back and give thanks. Press Make thank-you card to share one.

Create Greeting Cards

Three quick steps: pick an occasion, write your words, choose a style. Then download it as an image.

  1. Occasion. Choose Birthday, Good morning, Good night, Sunday blessings, Christmas, Easter, Encouragement, Thank you or Get well. Then pick a background and any decoration.
  2. Words. Type the heading, who it is to, your message and your name. Add a Bible verse if you like.
  3. Style. Choose the card size and the text style.

The card downloads as a PNG image named after its heading, ready to send by message, email or social media. Press Start over to begin a new card. Talk To Bible sets no cap on how many cards you create.

Shortcut: a Make card button appears under every verse and prayer, in the chat, the reader and the devotionals. It opens the card studio with that verse already in place.
If a verse is not found: the lookup uses the Bible text on your device. If the verse is outside the built-in selection, type the verse yourself in the verse box, or load a complete Bible in Settings.
USING IT

Learn with Bible

Today's devotional, Bible stories, reading plans and your favorite verses.

Use Jump to a section at the top to move between the four parts.

Today

A verse of the day with a short reflection and a "Try today" idea. Tick I read today's devotional to complete that step of your routine. Press Pray with this verse or Journal about it to go further. Reflections are written for this app to help you think about the verse. They are not Scripture.

Reading plans

Six seven-day plans (Peace, Hope, Love, Strength, Faith and Thanksgiving) and a 21-day Gospel of John plan. Open a plan, read each day's passage, answer the "Think about it" question and tick the day. Your progress is saved on your device. Use Reset to start a plan again.

Bible stories

Ten short retellings with a key verse and a link to the full passage: In the Beginning, Noah and the Rainbow, David and Goliath, Daniel in the Lions' Den, Jonah and the Great Fish, The Good Samaritan, The Prodigal Son, The Birth of Jesus, Feeding the Five Thousand and He Is Risen.

Favorites

Every verse you marked with the heart, in one place, with buttons to open, copy or make a card.

About this appA short reminder of how Talk To Bible works and what its text comes from.

Your settings, name, chat, bookmarks, highlights, journal and prayers are saved in this browser only. If your browser blocks storage, Talk To Bible tells you so and reminds you to export a backup.

SETTINGS

Load a complete Bible

Talk To Bible includes a Bible selection. Add a complete Bible file when you want every chapter.

In Settings, under Holy Bible text, you can see exactly what you are reading from. Once you add a complete file, the Read tab, the Search tab, the card verse lookup and the Learn passages all use it.

  1. Get a complete Bible file that you have the right to use. Public-domain Bibles work well.
  2. Open Settings, go to Holy Bible text and type a name for this translation.
  3. Press Choose a Bible file and pick your file.
  4. Talk To Bible reports how many verses, chapters and books it found, and tells you whether it is a complete Bible. Press Use this Bible.
Accepted formatExample
JSON with book, chapter and verseA structured file that lists each book, chapter and verse
Plain text, one verse per lineJohn 3:16 For God so loved the world…

The file stays on your device and nothing is uploaded. To go back to the built-in text, press Remove imported Bible. If the file is incomplete, Talk To Bible says so and tells you which chapters are missing.

Important: a Bible file you load is stored separately from your backup. If you move to a new browser or device, load the Bible file there again.
SETTINGS

Backup: keep your journal safe

Your data lives inside your browser. A backup file keeps it safe and lets you move it.

What a backup contains

Your name, chat, bookmarks, favorites, highlights, journal entries, prayer requests, answered prayers, reading plan progress, goals and settings.

Back up in one tap

  1. Open Settings and go to Your data.
  2. Press Export backup. A file named like talk-to-bible-backup-2026-10-17.json downloads.
  3. Move that file to a safe folder outside the browser, such as Documents or a cloud drive of your choice.

Restore or move to a new device

  1. Open Talk To Bible on the new browser or device.
  2. Open Settings, go to Import a backup file and choose your backup.
  3. Read the summary of what it contains and press Restore.
Remember: restoring replaces the data currently on that device. Clearing your browser data without a backup erases your journal, so export a backup every week.
Erase all data permanently deletes your name, chat, bookmarks, journal and prayers from this device. It asks you to confirm first. Export a backup before you use it.

ANSWERS

Frequently asked questions

These are the questions we hear most about Talk To Bible.

Do I need the internet to use Talk To Bible?

No. After you have the file, reading, praying, journaling and making cards all work offline. Only the Talk voice mode may need an internet connection, because your browser handles speech recognition.

Does it work on my phone or tablet?

Yes. The layout adapts to your screen, with a bottom bar on small screens. Each browser keeps its own data, so use a backup file to move between devices.

Is my data sent to anyone?

No. Your name, chat, journal and prayers stay in your browser on your device. There is no account and no server. Voice recognition is provided by your browser, not by Talk To Bible.

Is this the complete Bible?

The built-in text is a selection: 1,186 public-domain King James verses from all 66 books, with many well-loved chapters in full. To read and search every chapter, load a complete Bible file in Settings.

Is the chat artificial intelligence? Does it speak for God?

No. It matches your words to topics and shows verses from the Bible text on your device, with reflections written for Talk To Bible. It is not a person, it does not write new answers, and it is not God.

What happens if I clear my browser data?

Your saved data is erased with it. Restore your latest backup file from Settings. Export a backup every week to stay protected.

How do I move to a new phone or computer?

Export a backup on the old device, open Talk To Bible on the new one and use Import a backup file. If you loaded a complete Bible file, load it again on the new device.

Is there a limit to my chats or greeting cards?

Talk To Bible sets no cap inside the app on how many chats you have or how many cards you create. This does not mean unlimited devices, updates or support.

Can two people share one device?

Talk To Bible keeps one set of data per browser. For separate journals, each person should use their own browser profile or device.

How do I share a verse?

Tap a verse and press Copy to paste it into a message, or press Make card to create a picture you can download and send.

Can I print something?

Yes. Use your browser's print option. Most of the navigation is hidden when you print. Cards are best shared as PNG images.

The text is too small. What can I do?

Open Settings and move the Text size slider, or use your browser's zoom.
